Tile around toilet

Q. I need advice installing 12 X 12 tile
flooring in my bathroom. The toilet is in the center of
the pattern so basically when I cut the tile I have a U-shape.
What is the best way to cut the tile? I thought about cutting
the tile in half and scoring out the center but this would
leave a seam in the back.
A: They sell toilet flange extender rings that you
can use to draw a circle cutout on the tile. Then use a 4
and ½ inch right angle grinder with a continuous rim diamond
blade to cut the circle. You should definitely do it outside,
as it creates a lot of dust. Do it on a towel or sand bed
to absorb the vibrations of the machine. Make 5 or 6 passes
with the blade to get through all of the tile. If you press
too hard the tile will crack. Use a grinder to make half cuts
along the wall and also the wood trim around the door.
