Dog urine in grout

Added January 6th, 2006

Q. How can I remove dog urine from the grout in my ceramic tile flooring?

A: Since urine is organic, it requires an enzyme digesting cleaner. You can purchase these at pet store, usually under the description "pet mess cleaners." They are called a number of different things at home centers or hardware store. The most important thing to do is give the enzymes time to digest the organic matter. After you have cleaned out the stain, seal with grout penetrating sealer.
