Engineered Wood Floors

Q. I am thinking about placing engineered hardwood
flooring on concrete. I am wondering if engineered wood
is just as easy to install as laminate flooring. Can engineered
wood be installed floating? What are things to look for when
buying such a floor?
A: There are engineered floors you can buy that can
be floated. It just depends on the products. You should look
for major manufacturers that offer good/better/best quality
levels. As far as what to look for, engineered wood floors
have a veneer layer of wood over less quality layers. The
better quality floors have thicker layers of this real wood.
They also have more layers of the less quality wood. The best
quality veneer layers can be sanded down and refinished a
few times.
