Q. Newbie here. I am putting down a bamboo
floor that is 5/8 of an inch think and 6 feet long by
6 feet wide onto a level subfloor that is 3/4" thick. What
length and width of stable should I use?
A: You should use 1 ½ inch staples. Try to use as
many as you can without splitting the tounge. You should probably
have a stable every 8-10 inches. Under the groove edge you
should use a dot of elastomeric adhesive to help hold it down.
Use 1 1/2" staples. Use as many as you can without splitting
the tongue. I use cleats so can't tell you how many staples.
General standards dictate every 8-10". Make sure the manufacturer
recommends fastening down as opposed to gluing though.
