Bamboo Flooring Maintenance
Bamboo flooring look the best when they are vacuumed
or dust mopped at least twice a week. The most effective tool
when cleaning dust and dirt off of bamboo floors is a good
quality dust mop or vacuum head. Do not use a vacuum with
a beater bar, the cleaner head used must be felt or brush.
Tracked-in dirt and any spills that occur can be dust mopped
or a mop that is lightly damp. Be sure to dry the floor as
soon as possible after using a damp mop. Oils from roads or
asphalt driveways tend to leave stains on the bamboo floors.
It might be necessary to clean your bamboo floors with a
good quality wood cleaner such as TilePro-Wood & more or a
like item in addition to cleaning with water. Refrain from
using any types of abrasive cleaners, scouring powder, or
steel wool. Do not wax. To remove heel marks and soil, a good
product to use is Multi-Clean Hi Trac Wood Floor Cleaner &
Maintainer.
Place protective pads that are large enough to distribute
weight evenly, to help against the possibility of scratches
and dents. Instead of sliding furniture, lift the furniture
across the bamboo flooring. Clean entry mats and shoes so
that rocks, gravel and other debris do not get stuck under
the mats and/or shoes and scratch the surface. Spiked heels
need to be rubber guarded if they are worn across the bamboo
floors.
