A laminate Flooring
With The Look of Wood

Supplier: Armstrong World Industries, Inc.
Article: oldhouseweb.com

Armstrong's new laminate flooring line blends plank styles, natural colors, grain varieties and natural luster for an durable and stain-resistant floor with the look of wood.

Shown here is Newport Pine, part of the Origins Collection, with a classic antique pine look. The floor has a low-gloss sheen and the two-plank design.

The floating laminate floor can be installed over existing floors, including concrete, vinyl, wood and some indoor/outdoor carpeting. It does not need to be sanded, nailed, stained or sealed.

Three installation systems are available:

  • Standard tongue-and-groove allows individual pieces to be fitted and glued together to form a strong bond and precision fit.
  • ArmaLock uses the tongue-and-groove fit, but does not need glue.
  • ArmaLock-Plus, offers additional water protection in potential problem areas such as kitchens, entries and bathrooms

The snap together installation can be 50 percent faster than the standard installation, the manufacturer claims.

Each flooring style is available in low and medium gloss, and uses one of four plank styles -- plank, two-plank, two-plank split and long strip.

According to Armstrong, the high-quality direct laminate (DL) process floors cost less and perform better than other DL products and, in some cases, as well as high-pressure laminate (HIPL) products.

A l5-year limited warranty backs every Armstrong Laminate Floor, with a repair or replacement guarantee on labor costs for the first five years.

Twenty-three new authentic wood designs in the Laminate Flooring line are organized into two design collections. The Classics Collection features the look of oak, cherry, pine and maple. The Origins Collection contains the look of decorative and exotic wood.

Color-coordinated molding pieces are available in every profile, for every design.

The Classics Collection includes these designs:

  • Charleston Oak, a classic, open-grained oak in a two-plank design in high or medium gloss.
  • Cambridge Oak, a traditional, open-grained oak, in a two-plank split design. The natural color has a reddish hue, while the pickled color has a grayish hue.
  • Princeton Oak, a traditional tight-grained oak, in a long strip design, in natural or dark, low or high gloss.
  • Montpelier Maple, a traditional, tight-grained maple, in a two-plank design.
  • Roanoke Pine, a light warm pine enhanced with subtle knots and graining, in a low gloss finish.
  • Alexandria Cherry, a beautifully figured fruitwood combining rich grain with soft colors. This design comes in medium blond and a slightly deeper color, and in a low gloss, two-plank split design.

In addition to Newport Pine, the Origins Collection includes:

  • Hampton Oak, a richly grained and figured oak in warm or antique. Hampton Oak comes in the long strip design and mixes with antiques and the Arts and Crafts look.
  • Fairfield Apple, with a swirl in the burl design. Available in natural and antique in low sheen, and in a two-plank design.
  • Beaumont Oak, a Southern Oak with a rustic appearance. The graining is showcased in the plank design.
  • Jamestown Oak, a distressed oak with the look and feel of a vintage species. Available in antique and dark, in the plank design that blends with antique and reproduction furniture.
  • Nantucket Pine, a rugged, pea-grained pine with a luxurious driftwood appearance in a plank design.
  • Natchez Bamboo, with delicate graining and narrow strip configuration.
